Good nutrition is a varied diet of whole grains, vegetables, fruits, beans, nuts, and seeds. Varying your diet is an essential part of achieving and maintaining better health.
You are what you eat.
Moderate physical activity helps with anxiety and depression. It enhances the immune system, helps prevent cardiovascular disease, helps reduce cancer risk and helps with obesity. Research has shown that even low levels of activity are better than no activity at all in the prevention of weight gain and illness.
The three basic parts of a healthy exercise routine for everyone should include:
- Aerobic: Aerobics include jogging, speed walking bicycling, and fitness classes.
- Weight-bearing: exercises would include weightlifting and yoga.
- Stretching: is important before, during and particularly after exercise to prevent injury.
Adequate rest builds new cells and repairs damaged cells. Seven to eight hours per night is the recommended amount of sleep for adults. The lack of sleep invites sickness, lowers energy and increases depression. Our lifetime only lasts as long as our body lasts and the quality of that lifetime depends on our love and nurturing of our bodies.
